Bluehost shut down my account without receiving an outside complaint. Their explanation was that their own internal sweeper identified a file as possible copyrighted media. They turned off the tap without making any attempt to contact me. Indeed, after spending over an hour getting shuffled around by various first level support, the single person they had in their 'fraud dept' explained that shutting off the service was in fact their notification procedure and if I wished to dispute their automated determination my site would be inoperative for one to three weeks for investigation. I am a firm supporter of PROPER copyright enforcement. But the policy of pre-emptive takedown, without notification, with complete disregard for public domain material is requires that I recommend this hosting service be avoided.
